Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel was denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of possession of ganja this morning.
Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey, refused a bail application by attorney Michael Deans and ordered the deejay, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, to return to court on November 10 when the case will again be mentioned.
Dressed in a grey and black vest, blue and white striped shirt and grey pants, Palmer did not appear as hyped up as he did on his first court appearance last week.
He is due to appear in court tomorrow to answer to charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Palmer was arrested two Fridays ago at a hotel in New Kingston by cops from the Flying Squad.
Police from the Caribbean Search Centre scoured three premises which the artiste is known to frequent in the Corporate Area and St Catherine. Police say they are targetting members of the Gaza gang who they claim have been intimidating witnesses in a bid to scuttle the prosecution’s case.
Several members of the gang have since been taken into custody.
