Producer Tarik ‘Rvssian’ Johnston is preparing to release a bilingual album featuring major artistes performing reggaeton and dancehall songs.
The album is tentatively set for release in the first quarter of 2016.
In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Rvssian spoke about the project.
“I decided to put out a bilingual album so it can have that appeal to the world. It will comprise about 60 per cent dancehall music,” he said.
Artistes from Jamaica, France, Martinique, the United States, Puerto Rico, Belize, Panama, Dominican Republic and Colombia will contribute to the yet-titled set.
Rvssian declined to name the artistes involved.
He has had success in the Latin market, having produced two major hits for Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Farruko, namely Passion Whine (featuring Sean Paul) and Sunset done with Shaggy and Nicky Jam.
Passion Whine hit the Top 10 of Billboard’s Latin Songs Chart last year and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over one million copies.
Recently, Rvssian created music history when Sunset became the first song by a Jamaican producer to hit number one on the Latin Airplay chart.
“I feel great, it shows hard work and good music pays off and it’s a good look for Jamaica as well. Shaggy and I are both Jamaicans and the rhythm is authentic dancehall,” said Rvssian.
Sunset is featured on Farruko’s latest album Visionary, which was released on October 23.
