After being without a United States visa for some time, dancehall artiste Busy Signal touched down in New York on Friday morning and he is expected to spend a few days there before returning to Jamaica.
“Is a blessing. Most High, Jah, bless the Turf as usual. god get the most praise, God get all the praise inna the world from me,” the Nah go a Jail Again star said in a Facebook post.
Busy Signal’s voluntary return to the US is another stage of his life which saw him being arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica in May 2012 on an extradition warrant. He was subsequently locked up in US federal prison for two months for absconding bail.
Busy Signal was required to wait until after his two year probation run out before he could apply for a United States visa. But having received a visa recently, Busy Signal travelled to the US and made sure he posted photos and videos on social media to record the moment.
“Guess who dem let in yah” Give thanks and praise to the most High Jah, give thanks to the US,” said Busy Signal while adding that it has been 15 years since his feet had touch that soil.
Most requested artiste
Carla Gullota, Busy Signal’s booking agent for Europe, told THE STAR that the artiste will spend a short time in the United States before returning to Jamaica. She said that he will then jet off to Europe where he will perform at 17 shows between January 28 and February 21.
“He is very popular in Europe. He is one of the most requested artiste,” Gullota said, while adding that Busy has not been there since 2014.
“He was needing a sabbatical. He wanted to concentrate on all the stress and trauma that he went through so he took a break,” she said.
The European tour will see Busy going to countries such as Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.
“I am very happy for him. I promote him and for him for several years and I am around him during the good times and the bad times. This is the good times and we have to be happy for what is happening now,” she said.
“Busy is special. Busy has a wonderful voice and a big talent and so he was deserving of a second chance,” Gullota said.
