2017 track and field season begins today

    The 2017 track and field season begins on Saturday with the Purewater/JC Development Meet at Jamaica College in Kingston and the First Chance Meet at Herbert Morrison High in Montego Bay.

    Both meets are scheduled to begin at 8:30 am.

    Over 60 teams are down to compete at JC. That meet will begin with the 3,000-metre open event for girls, followed by the 5,000-metre open event for boys.

    The 100 metres, 80 metres, 100 metres and 110-metre hurdles are the other track events scheduled for JC.

    The field events are long jump, high jump, discus, shot put and pole vault.

    Over at Herbert Morrison High athletes will compete in similar events as the Kingston meet.

    The meets are among tthe qualifying events for the 2017 Boys and Girls’ Athletic Championships.
