Back in the day, Notorious B.I.G. sat down with Peter Spirer of Rugged Entertainment and spoke about how he was discovered by Diddy. He reveals that he got his first break after Mister Cee, who was DJing for Big Daddy Kane at the time, sent his tape to someone at The Source, who later passed it on to Diddy.
At the time, Diddy was looking for more street artists because he was wanting to move away from R&B and pop oriented rap. He brought Biggie in to spit a few verses, was predictably impressed, and signed him.
