T.I. Talks BET Hip Hop Awards Performance, New Music

Tip speaks on his upcoming performance at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards and where he’s taking his music in the future.

T.I. recently hosted an open conference call with DJs and journalists to discuss his recent release from prison and his upcoming business plans. During the call, Tip spoke on his recent opening performance at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards with fellow ATLien Young Jeezy. He said that he was blessed to be able to kick off the annual awards show, which are slated to premiere this October 11.

“I feel like I’m blessed. I’m blessed to be able to still have a platform and have people who receive me with open arms in doing what I love to do,” he said. “I definitely see the value and see the lesson in that, and it was my pleasure to able to get on stage…alongside [Young Jeezy] in my city [of Atlanta]. It’s a story that I could not have even written myself. You can see that it was divine order…it was meant to happen that way.”

T.I. also spoke on restarting his music career after a nearly year-long sentence in prison. He said that his main goal now that he’s back in the studio is to continue making the level of honest music that he had been making prior to his incarceration.

“I’m gonna come and do what I do,” he said. “I don’t even know how to put that into words. I feel like the example that I have put forth in my music and my past history, I think that’s the best way to [describe that] than just me to say it in conversation. I bring my life [into my music], and there ain’t nobody’s life like mine…and that’s why what you hear from me will always be different from anybody else.”
