Still no arrest of Bounty Killer

The Half-Way Tree Police have yet to arrest popular deejay Bounty Killer, who, in keeping with a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions, is to be charged in connection with a gun-related incident which occurred in 2007.

Crime chief for the St Andrew Central Division, Deputy Superintendent Michael Phipps, confirmed last week that the ruling had been made but said yesterday that he had learned that the deejay was overseas. He however revealed that a lawyer had called to indicate that he would be representing the deejay and would contact the police this week.

The deejay, real name Rodney Price, has been named as a person of interest in a matter stemming from an incident on September 27, 2007. It is expected that Price will be charged with illegal possession of firearm and wounding.

The incident in question is alleged to have occurred after an off-duty policeman left a club on St Lucia Avenue in New Kingston, St Andrew, about 4:50 a.m.

The lawman is said to have seen a number of vehicles blocking a section of the roadway.

Several men including Price and the now deceased dancer David Alexander Smith, more popularly known as ‘Ice’, were allegedly at the scene.

It is alleged that the lawman tried to get the men to move the vehicles, but was reportedly assaulted and fired at.

A report was subsequently made to the New Kingston police and a file later sent to the Office of the DPP for a ruling to be made.
