Kingston, Jamaica: – The LIME All-Island Carnival will kick off today at the UDC Field in New Kingston with much fanfare and excitement, fitting of a true carnival celebration. The first of 10 roving fetes to go across the length and breadth of Jamaica, the event will see live performances from Bajan soca star Lil Rick as well as top flight dancehall acts Aidonia, Elephant Man and Tanto Blacks.
However, Tri-Star Entertainment director Julius Morgan says that his team as added another soca heavyweight to the line-up, Skinny Fabulous. The addition of the energetic St Vincent and The Grenadines national is set to excite the thousands of patrons expected to fill the UDC Field on Saturday night.
The latest addition to the Soca Junkies package has been said to be willing to push the boundaries of Caribbean music, and has a style that falling somewhere between the realm soca and dancehall, which Morgan says patrons are sure to enjoy.
He catapulted onto the soca scene in 2008 with the instant hit track Head Bad, which lead to him copping the St Vincent Soca Monarch title in that year. Since then, the artiste has shared studio time with other stars like Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Peter Ram and Kevin Lyttle. His passport is well decorated as well, having toured places such as Venezuela, Columbia, Canada, Germany, the UK, England and more. Skinny Fabulous also hols the Best New
Male Artiste award from the Soca Music Awards in 2009, in addition to being the first runner up in the OECS Soca Monarch competition.
“Skinny Fabulous will bring tremendous entertainment value. When we saw that we could make the opening fete even bigger by adding him to the line-up, it was a very simple decision to make,” Morgan said.
Morgan commented that tickets were moving rapidly and that he has already had to re-stock outlets.
“We’re gearing up to have a great time on Saturday night, and trust me, Soca Junkies will start off our entire All-Island Carnival series with an epic bang,” smiled Morgan.
