CAPTAIN of the Reggae Boyz, Ricardo Gardner, has temporarily dropped down a division in English football, having joined Preston North End on a one-month emergency loan from Premier League club Bolton Wanderers.
The 32-year-old Gardner has made 402 appearances since joining Bolton in 1998, shortly after impressing in Jamaica’s 1998 World Cup in France.
He could make his debut for Preston debut against Leeds tonight and will remain at Deepdale until his loan expired on April 6.
“Ricardo has worked really hard to recover from his injury and get himself back up to speed and Preston presents an opportunity for him to sharpen up his match fitness,” said Wanderers manager Owen Coyle.
Preston are currently bottom of the Championship and it is hoped that the former Harbour View and Wolmer’s star will help the club avoid relegation into the third tier of English football
