Kingston, Jamaica: The Premier League received an additional boost today, Wednesday March 2nd, from Pepsi Cola Jamaica and its brands, Pepsi, Gatorade and Aqua Essential Water. A total sponsorship of $17.6M JMD was agreed to, with officials, including the Chairman of the Premier League Club Association, The Hon. Edward Seaga at a press conference at the Terra Nova Hotel.
Pepsi is the Exclusive Carbonated Beverage, Gatorade, the Exclusive Hydration/ Sports Beverage and Aqua Essential Water, the Exclusive Water of the Premier League.
The sponsorship arrangement will cover the 2010- 2011 season.
Commenting on the venture, Head of Marketing at Pepsi Cola Jamaica, Carlo Redwood, said that the company has always been affiliated with sport and this sponsorship was just an extension of that support.
“We are elated to partner with the Premier League Club Association and hope that our support will go a far way in assisting the individual teams with direct support as they vie for the championship,” Mr. Redwood said.
The Hon. Edward Seaga, Chairman of the Premier League Club Association, was thrilled to have Pepsi on board and commended the company for being such a good corporate citizen. He also said that sport is extremely important to the development of the youth in Jamaica and that Pepsi’s donation would contribute to that development.
The sponsorship investment consists of $10 million cash and $7.6 million in product (Pepsi, Gatorade, Aqua Essential Water).
