It will be more fun, more fête, and more play as the 2011 Bacchanal season kicks off on February 18 at the Mas Camp in Kingston under the theme ‘Once Upon A Dynasty.’

Speaking at the media launch held at the Knutsford Court hotel on Wednesday, Bacchanal’s Director Michael Ammar says that the 10th staging of this prestigious event will feature soca’s hottest including Destra Garcia, Shurwayne Winchester, Image and Company, Bunji Garlin, Fayonn Lyons, and some of Jamaica’s top DJs and selectors. “This Bachannal season will be one transformed into a time where great empires ruled historical kingdoms, filled legends and dynasties,” Ammar added.

If his words were not convincing enough, minutes later nine pairs of Bacchanal beauties paraded around the room showing off the bright, sexy and coveted Romaninspired costumes namely Atlantis, Shangri La, Avalon, Ming Dynasty, Moroccan Sands, Simyria, Macedonia, Princess of Persia and Zanzibar.

The first carnival soca event for the season ignited on January 7 at the Mass Camp with the Pre-Carnival Fête that attracted thousands of soca lovers. The next highly anticipated event kicks off on the official opening night on February 18.

For nine weeks Mass Camp will come alive with the ‘Soca’- cise Fête where fitness is the focus for the energy needed for Mass Camp Fridays, J’ouvert and the Road March.

The Carnival season would not be complete without the staging of Beach J’ouvert on Friday, April 23 at James Bond Beach in Ocho Rios. Soca at the Sandbar will be on Wednesday, April 27, Bacchanal J’ouvert on the 29th and the Road March on May 1.

Sponsers of this year’s carnival season include Smirnoff, Digicel, Appleton, Acropolis, Fame FM, Jamaica Observer and Pure Country.
