After making his split with the Gaza Empire recently singjay Jahvinci is all excited about making it to the line-up for this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest set for later this month.

“The festival is certainly the biggest platform in the Caribbean for a reggae artiste to showcase his craft and this will be my first opportunity to work a complete set as a solo act, and I will not disappoint my fans,” Jahvinci said in a release.

Jahvinci will join US acts Nicki Minaj, R Kelly, along with Jamaican hitmakers Mavado, Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Tanya Stephens and I-Octane at Sumfest.

Jahvinci burst unto the scene in 2008 with Weh Dem A Guh, a collaboration with Vybz Kartel on Stephen McGregor’s hit Day Rave riddim. Since then he has recorded songs such as Money, Watch Yuh Friends — which hit #1 on several charts in Jamaica and overseas — Wipe Those Tears, Guide Me and Mi Know. One of his latest hit singles was Mama Love on the Eternal riddim late last year.

In May 2011, Jahvinci announced his intention not to re-sign a booking or recording contract with the Portmore Empire, after three years with that organisation.

SInce then, Jahvinci has since recorded the single called In My Life for Notnice/Corey Todd Records and the artistes notes that the single has been getting a lot of airplay on radio stations across Jamaica.

He will also be recording with reggae music stalwarts, Sly Dunbar of Taxi Records, and Donovan Germain of Penthouse Records.

“Anything is possible because mi free but mi a gwaan focus pon my work and build my career, I am looking forward to recording some great songs for major producers like Sly Dunbar and Donovan Germaine who have contributed a lot to reggae music,” he said.

“Promoters as far away as Japan and Africa have also expressed interest in my career. During the next couple of months, I will be organising my own band so that I can have an explosive set when I go on tour. I want to entertain the fans and have a long, fulfilling career in reggae music,” he said.
