Kingston, Jamaica — Every dollar generated from the Coke Zero concert to be held on Saturday January 16, will be donated to relief funds, aimed at alleviating the devastation in Haiti that was caused by a massive earthquake on Tuesday. The earthquake, a magnitude 7.2 demolished some of the country’s infrastructure and has left a trail of death and despair among the people there.

The concert, which will feature international superstars Sean Kingston and Iyaz, alongside local artistes Etana, Ding Dong, Elephant Man, Demarco, Alaine, Tifa and more is expected to draw thousands of persons to the LIME Golf Academy in New Kingston for an unbeatable entertainment package.

According to Coca-Cola Country Manager, Chris Hardy, “This is the energy Coke Zero is made of.”

“We started with the goal to give back to Jamaica. So we have this great line-up and everyone is excited about the event, but now we really have a chance to give back, and give back in a big way, and we are stepping up to the plate” explained Hardy.

He said that Coca-Cola International has already donated USD$1-million to the relief efforts:

“The devastation in Haiti is heart-wrenching and we need to do everything we can to make sure that we can get them back on their feet. Coca-Cola International is doing their part, and we in Jamaica are augmenting those efforts with our own initiative.”

The company will also be setting up pledge tents at the Coke Zero concert, so persons can come and pledge in cash and in kind to the relief efforts of the company. The efforts will be activated with the aid of Food For the Poor.

“Literally, every last dollar generated will be donated to the relief efforts. From the $100 that persons paid over to Mother’s and Burger King to redeem tickets, to every dollar collected at the gate for the event, proceeds from drink sales, everything we will just hand over to Food for the Poor for them to activate our support and get aid to the persons who need it most.”

He said that now is the time persons should give back and get a ticket to the concert, as they will be helping persons who really need the support of the world.

With feature performances from platinum-selling, dancehall-flavoured international artiste Sean Kingston, alongside Elephant Man, D’Angel, Chino, Laden, Demarco, , the Coke Zero concert is set to ignite the entertainment calendar for 2010 as it takes over the grounds of the Lime Golf Academy on Saturday January 16. Tickets are available at any branch of Mothers or Burger King Restaurants, and may be collected by redeeming three Coke Zero labels and $100. A limited amount of tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate for $1000 for regular entrance, and $1500 for VIP.
