Kingston, Jamaica — After a successful 2009, Chino’s hard work still has him reaping its rewards in 2010. The Reggae/Dancehall artiste, whose name is Daniel McGregor has been nominated for a staggering six awards in this year’s Youthview Awards and EME Awards.
For the YVA’s he was nominated in the categories: ‘Male Artiste of the Year’, ‘Young Hot & Hype Male Artiste of the Year’ while for the EME’s he was nominated for ‘Breakthrough Artiste of the Year;, Singjay of the Year’, ‘Most Improved Artiste of the Year’ and his mega-hit From Mawning was nominated for ‘Song of the Year – Dancehall’.
Chino spoke of his striking accomplishments, saying, “Last year I worked exceptionally hard and even while on a three month tour in Europe and the USA I was still writing so when I got back to Jamaica I could record and get things kicking again. It has taken a lot of sacrifices to get to this point: non-stop travelling, performing, recording and sometimes when people see you they don’t know what you have to go through to get to a point, so even that, I pour everything into my music. I feel really happy but humbled to see where the journey has taken me and once again I have to say bless up to everybody for the support.”
Also in December of last year, Chino, alongside another artiste walked away with ‘Best New Artiste(s) of the Year’, and to kick-off 2010 with a bang, in addition to his numerous noms, he has released a humorous yet telling-tale called Telephone Gallis, (which he says he is a far cry from), on the Jukeboxx Label. Then this Saturday, Chino will share the stage with other superstars, namely Sean Kingston, Iyaz known for his Billboard chart-topper Replay, Elephant Man, Ding Dong, Etana, Alaine, G-Whizz, QQ and more at the Coke Zero Presents Sean Kingston in Concert at the LIME Golf Academy, St. Andrew.
