Hip-Hop superstar Young Jeezy’s The Recession has debuted at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200, leading the pack of this week’s debuts, which also includes discs by Bad Boy Donnie Klang and actor Terrance Howard.
Jeezy has earned the top position on the charts according to the Nielsen’s SoundScan selling over 256,000 albums of his highly anticipated third Def Jam release. Jeezy has added a voter awareness to the line-up of events celebrating the release of his third solo album The Recession, which hit stores nationwide Tuesday (September 2).
In addition to a full day of events in his hometown of Atlanta, including an in-store appearance, concert and star-studded release party, it was announced that Jeezy and his CTE label mates and staff will host a voter registration drive today Thursday (September 4).

Atlanta rap star Young Jeezy is personally taking steps to prepare local youth for life in the classroom, with his Back 2 School giveback and bowling event.

Georgia rapper Young Jeezy was arrested early this morning in Atlanta for driving under the influence and speeding.
According to TMZ, the rapper (real name Jay Jenkins) was stopped for speeding and was arrested on a slew of charges, including DUI, reckless driving, speeding, having no tags or proof of insurance and driving with an open container.
