After being unable to travel to the United States for months, dancehall artiste Mavado will give his fans in the US a full performance at an official return show on October 25.

Mavado, real name David Constantine Brooks, will perform at his Return of the Gully God show, which will be held at Club Amazura in Queens, New York.

Dancehall artistes Mavado and Serani will be blazing up the airwaves in New York after having songs added to Hot 97’s regular playlist.

According to www.rap.about.com, Hot 97 is one of the most popular radio stations in the urban area. The station broke barriers by becoming the world’s first hip hop-formatted radio station in 1994. Known for breaking new artistes and setting trends, the station features an on-air line-up that includes award-winning mixers, personalities, and artistes.

Mavado Free And Happy

Singjay Mavado is feeling ’so special’ as his case was dismissed from the Savannah-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday.

The ace deejay, who says he is innocent of all charges, says trouble somehow, always seem to find him.

On Sunday August 3 during the RTI weekend in Negril, Mavado, real name David Brooks, was served a summons which charged him with, among other things, assault occasioning bodily harm and using indecent language after an incident at the Jungle night club.

Rising deejay star Mavado eclipsed his mentor Bounty Killer on Thursday night’s ‘Dancehall Night’ segment of Reggae Sumfest ‘08.

Bounty gave up the throne on Thursday by giving a performance which ended in boos, expletives, and his arrest bythe Mobay police - leaving Mavado to rock the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, in Montego Bay, with an awesome set.

Nike and Olympic sprinter Asafa Powell have teamed up with Reggae label VP Records to create a Nike Sport Music workout featuring the exclusive track, “On The Go (Faster Than Bullet),” by one of the athlete’s favorite artists, Mavado. Called Asafa Powell: Train for Speed, the 35-minute interval workout is coached by Asafa over a reggae/dancehall soundtrack. Among the genre-defining songs included on the mix are some of reggae’s greatest artists of the past, present, and future, providing a musical backdrop for running that is both unique and effective.
