With all the parties going on in Kingston last weekend, ‘Stush: The Paparazzi Edition’ got lost among the bigger patron drawing events.
Held at the Pantry, New Kingston last Saturday night, when THE STAR arrived at the venue minutes to midnight there was only a handful of patrons rocking to the music. As the night progressed patrons trickled in but the venue was nowhere near to being full by 2 a.m. when THE STAR left. DJs Christoff and Dre, from Renaissance Disco, played for the majority of the night finally giving over the turntables to DJ Sanjay from Coppershot at 2 a.m. At midnight Christoff and Dre held an oldies vibe with Beenie Man preaching about having ’nuff gal’, Nadine Sutherland sang about Action and Sean Paul ‘infiltrated’ the party.
Red carpet
The venue was decked out to synchronise with the name of the party with ladies in classic black dresses acting as ushers, a red carpet leading to the dance floor and two ice swan sculptures complementing the décor. One couple in white caught the attention of the cameramen present, looking stush the male sported a white jacket with a lot of bling that caught the lights well. The women that were present were decked out in classy dresses and fashionable shorts and tops.
By 1 a.m. patrons finally began dancing as the oldies vibe prevailed with rap music from Eve. The patrons gathered near the selectors as they made the best of the music. Sanjay brought the party up to date with new dancehall songs as he brought a little energy. Songs such as Back It Up and Hot Wuk made an impression mixed in with Coca Cola Bottle Shape. When the STAR left the venue after 2 a.m., others were also leaving.
