Multiple NBA sources say Allen Iverson is facing alcohol and gambling issues that have derailed his career and threaten his post-basketball well-being, Stephen A. Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports in a column published Monday.

According to multiple NBA sources, there is widespread concern that the four-time NBA scoring champion, who left the Philadelphia 76ers in February to deal with his daughter’s illness and will not return this season, “will either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away,” Smith reported.

NBA star, Allen Iverson, was hit with a lawsuit recently, stemming from an incident last April in Detroit, where a man was allegedly assaulted by a member of the player’s security detail.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Guy Walker filed a lawsuit recently claiming he suffers from “severe pain, emotional distress and mental anguish” due to injuries he suffered during an altercation with Iverson’s crew at a local nightspot called South Beach Pizza Bar back in April 2008.

Spurs G Hill apologizes for nude photos

San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill is apologizing for nude pictures of himself that were recently posted online.

In a statement issued by the team Tuesday, Hill said: “A year ago I made a mistake and take full responsibility for my actions. I have matured and learned from this episode.”

Hill apologized to his girlfriend, family, the Spurs and fans.

Hill, the Spurs’ first-round draft pick in June 2008, is the first player from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis to make it to the NBA.

Last month, Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden apologized for nude photos of himself that surfaced on the Internet.
