Hours after clash…Kartel records Sting song

Hours after the clash between Vybz Kartel and Mavado at Sting 2008, Kartel has recorded a song boldly declaring that Mavado ran from the war.

Entitled Don’t Run (Last Man Standing) the song was recorded Saturday morning and was produced by Portmore Empire affiliated producer Not Nice. In the song Kartel dubs Mavado the ‘runner’ stating that the artiste ran before completing the clash.

Cold loss for Ice’s family, friends

It was a shocked and dismayed entertainment fraternity that received the news of dancer Ice’s death early yesterday morning. Ice was gunned down along Newark Avenue in St Andrew.

Born David Alexander Smith, the dancer was a veteranin the business known as noted member of the late Bogle’s Black Roses crew. Ice skyrocketed to super stardom this year with his dance ‘gully creepa’, which received fame worldwide after world record holder Usain Bolt celebrated his wins with during the Beijing Olympics.

Sean Paul joins Bustamante project

Dancehall artiste Sean Paul will be lending a helping hand to Shaggy’s Make A Difference campaign.

Sean Paul said he was in discussion with the management of the Bustamante Hospital for Children recently to determine the type of equipment that is needed.

The hospital needs many vital machines, so Sean Paul said he is not sure what he will be donating and in what quantity. Nonetheless, he is happy to be aiding the project.

Dancer ‘Ice’ shot dead

Popular dancehall figure, Andrew Smith, also called ‘Ice’, was gunned down in a bar on Newark Avenue, off Waltham Park Road in Kingston, early yesterday morning.

Smith, 36, a member of the Black Roses Crew based on Lincoln Road in Kingston, was shot in the head and other parts of his upper body by the gunmen who escaped in his rented Mitsubishi Lancer motor vehicle, police said.

The cops have not determined a motive for his murder but said that they are questioning a female in connection with the incident.

Deejay Vybz Kartel is ready and lyrically loaded to settle all arguments at Sting this Friday at the Jamworld Centre, Portmore.

When THE STAR spoke with the deejay yesterday, he said that while he has no new songs prepared for the event, it will be “just hit song and hit slang”.

The deejay did not hold back when asked about his preparation for the clash against Mavado. “Me want them line up together fi me dun dem, ’cause they have been slandering my name for two years and so they have no choice but to defend their argument Friday.”
