Ricardo Newman more popularly know as Venom was born in Point Hill, St. Catherine. While growing up Venom developed a deep love for rap music and this love became stronger when he discovered that he had the talent to write and perform this genre of music fluently. After rapping at a local barber shop on weekends he started to write and perform professionally in the year 2000.

Aptly called Venom, as the lyrical content of his songs are usually laced with a memorable “sting.” His strong delivery and spontaneity has been the ‘draw card’ of his performance. Becoming an established artiste and accomplished song writer has always been Venom’s dream. Gaining a greater understanding of the music business is an infinite thing to him because determination and hard work can never be too much on the quest to stardom.

Venom has performed at various places around Jamaica. Some of these places includes: The Asylum and Village Café in Kingston, Margarita Ville (Ocho Rios), Spanish Town, Brown’s Hall and many school performances.

While experiencing a steady rise in the music business, Venom’s work is being recognized for being creative and different – a real rapper from yard. The young talent has his goals ahead of him and he is very optimistic about making his voice heard and to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with.

While working with various producers in Jamaica, he has learned the meaning of commitment, determination and discipline – as he knows without these attributes he will not achieve his musical goals.

Venom, has produced something new and different with his sound. A real Jamaican rapper, with style and lyrics to fit…no shit!!
