Scatta threatened – Producer blamed for adding to violence in dancehall

Popular dancehall producer Cordell ‘Scatta’ Burrell has said he is being accused of contributing to the violence that now exists in dancehall because of certain ‘war songs’ recorded on some of his rhythms.

“People a sen threat but, apart from dat, basically people a sey I am responsible for the downfall in the music business and, with all that’s happening, the crime and violence and di whole Mavado and Kartel clash song dem wey did voice pon my riddim (called Self Defence) said Burrell in an interview with THE STAR. “Dem a sey me producing that rhythm cause di war fi start up back and some artiste even a sey mi shoulda mek Elephant Man song (Sweep) gwaan run di rhythm an nuh bodda voice di two war song dem (Mavado’s Dem A —- and Vybz Kartel’s Wha Dat Fah)”.

A year after the passing of Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, an investigation has begun as a nephew may be responsible for her untimely death.

According to People, Stephan Scoggins, a registered nurse, was watching over his aunt during post-surgery in November 2007. Caring for her alongside Ye’s assisant and a friend, Scoggins reportedly left Donda’s bedside to attend a friend’s babyshower immediately following her operation the day before.

Man Convicted Of Murdering T.I.’s Assistant

A jury has convicted the man accused of gunning down rapper T.I.’s assistant last May after a show in Cincinnati. Hosea Thomas, 35, was found guilty on all counts – including murder.

Prosecutors alleged that Thomas was the triggerman in the May 3, 2006 shooting, while his brother Padron drove the Jeep that followed two of the rapper’s vans down I-75.

Shaggy is up to his old antics again. The talented and celebrated entertainer is to release his latest project – a music video of his song Bad Man Don’t Cry at Mas Camp on Saturday night.

The song was produced by Shaun ‘Sting’ Pizzonia, the highly respected producer, who also worked in Shaggy’s monster hit song It Wasn’t Me.

According to the Nielsen SoundScan, the superstar’s latest project marks her third consecutive time coming in atop the charts. Led by mega singles like “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” the disc also features production by Rodney Jerkins and vocals by Justin Timberlake.

Cops charged in Spragga’s son’s death

After months of waiting for justice, Sharon Gapoor, the mother of Carlton Grant Jr., who was shot dead by the police in August, is happy that the three policemen implicated will be charged.

Grant, the son of popular deejay Spragga Benz, was killed by the police in controversial circumstances on August 23, along Church Street in downtown Kingston.

The three police officers implicated in the death of the 17-year-old, are to be charged and brought before the court today.
