Rappers Jay-Z and P Diddy reportedly had a “huge” backstage bust-up after Diddy tried to take over DJ-ing duties during a bash at the VIP Room nightclub.

Diddy — real name Sean Combs — was keen to get on stage to DJ and entertain the clubbers — but Jay-Z didn’t want him stealing his spotlight.

Bob Marley Documentary Switches Directors, Scorcese Drops Out

Martin Scorcese recently gave up his seat in the director’s chair to Jonathan Demme for an upcoming Bob Marley documentary.

According to Scorcese’s camp, the award-winning director had to pull out because of “scheduling conflicts.”

But the guy taking his place is no slouch. Demme directed Beloved, Philadelphia and Silence of the Lambs among other big feature films, as well as a concert documentary on Neil Young and music videos for Bruce Springsteen. The director is also related to Ted Demme, the creator of Yo! MTV Raps.

Popular personality Miss Kitty was fired from Nationwide News last Monday.

Miss Kitty, who hosts The Entertainment Office, a show which airs Monday to Friday between 2 to 5 p.m., says she is not distressed, but is looking forward to new heights.

When THE STAR contacted Miss Kitty, real name Khadine Hylton yesterday, the talk-show host confirmed that her services were no longer required at Nationwide.

Richie Spice’s Gideon Boots is kicking up a storm. And it all has to do with radio, specifically reggae radio Irie FM.

Known worldwide as a standard bearer for culture, the dreadlocked Richie Spice recently released his latest CD, Gideon Boots on the VP Records label. However, prior to the release, as is the norm, a few singles were distributed to radio to generate airplay, among them the CD’s title song, Gideon Boots.

Absolute Entertainment Extatic Fridays, staged at The Pantry, New Kingston, last Friday, was slow in gaining momentum and failed to climax to a thrilling end.

The party, staged under the theme ‘Inchz’, suffered because it was in proximity to May Daze, which was being staged only a stone’s throw away. May Daze also boasted a thumping sound system that could be heard well beyond the boundaries of the venue, and this attracted the masses.
